Trailblazers is entering a new season of helping Tabs for Wheelchairs raise money for specialized wheelchairs. Here is the June 2024 presentation of a Little Wave Clik XP wheelchair. The video shows a wall of 380 bags, each filled with approximately 50,000 tabs.
Trailblazers participants and staff assist by receiving soda can tabs from schools and sorting the tabs into bags. The tabs are later sold for scrap with money raised going towards wheelchairs. Trailblazers receives tabs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday except for holidays. (You can also call ahead to 204-257-0813 to drop tabs at 1069 Autumnwood Drive in Winnipeg. Tabs for Wheelchairs started in 1998. It now has more than 100 schools, about 200 businesses and community groups and hundreds of individuals participating. Millions of tabs are collected to purchase one wheelchair.
